Instead of making extreme proclamations that we might not be able to actually do, maybe we should instead make New Year's resolutions that will require us to take baby steps towards our ultimate goal.
On the first day of the first month of every year, much of the world’s population proclaims their New Year’s resolutions to the universe. Promises to lose weight and quit smoking are probably the two most common New Year’s resolutions and quite sadly, there are still times when these promises fall short. Instead of making extreme proclamations that we might not be able to actually do, maybe we should instead make New Year’s resolutions that will require us to take baby steps towards our ultimate goal.
For instance, a good resolution would be “I promise to take care of myself.” This statement is broad enough for you to be able to interpret in different ways. For example, you find that you have been eating really bad food for a week already, this resolution will allow you to take a step back and ask “Am I taking care of myself?” If your answer is no, then you can go back to your resolution and make the necessary adjustments. If you are drinking one night after the other, you can ask yourself once more if you are indeed taking care of yourself. Here are a few ways you can start taking care of yourself this year:
