slowly but sure! (no rice diet + walking)

posted by emzgabriel on 29-10-2010 à 22:20

I am 235 lbs initially. I have not eaten rice since Aug. 26, and I already lost my craving for it! I eat normal, except for the rice. I usually get my carbos in wheat breads, camotes or potatoes.

But I just started doing exercises this Oct. 8. Initially I did HipHop Abs, which I enjoyed, however I injured my knee (I twisted and snapped, but thanks God it was able to heal) and decided not to continue it. I walk 1hr 5x a week and do some crunches and dumbbell exercises for my arm (which is so flabby and big!!!). I lost almost 6lbs since, I am now 229lbs. I am grateful , but not satisfied. I know I can still do better like 2lbs per week.

What would happen this November? No one knows but I am looking forward to positive changes in my body. A healthier and sexier me!

i tried it also the no rice at all..the after 6 meal pa...pumapayat lang ang mukha ko,pero tummy ko malaki pa rin.pero after amonth balik naman  ang katakawan ko sa rice.lalo na kung mga spicy ang ulam.so now,a lot of weight ang kailangang mawala sa akin.hay, sana mabawasan na ang bilbil ko.lolz.^_^

I did the same on the first 3 months.. Yoyo diet talga.. Minsan diet minsan hindi... It made me look fatter, it obvious my cellulites.. Until now im combatting cellulites but i read on an article that weight loss itself will definitely help in all this loose skin and cellulites. Started with 2 cups rice a day then cup of rice after 2 weeks and then hindi na ko nagrice.. Pero yabang naman kung sasabihin ko na di ako nagcrave diba? Sobra din taas ng cravings ko, tapos i feel down, tapos i feel lousy and ugly.. Hehe!

i did tried this metabolism calculator from webmd

http://www.webmd.com/diet/healthtool-metabolism-calculator

this will definitely help you keep on track kung gano kadami pwede mo kainin.. galing! you'll realize that without exercise you burn calories with your metabolism basically.

Lets motivate each other on our JOURNEY! GOD BLESS!

I've been doing this no rice diet for 5 months now.. Good that even with my regular activities and not adding exercise to my routine, somehow shown results.. Im Still continuing this just to maintain the calorie intake.. I reward myself with cheat days and during my PMS i couldn't resist salts and sweets, diet will be thrown a bit but at the end of the day still feels guilty then back to the NRD again. This is actually a strict but not too strict since i can still eat anything other than rice.. I also joined the facebook no rice group.. then seeing results with other dieters gives me continuos motivation and challenge as i go on further on this diet..

We can do this all dieter.. Lets continue our Diet for our Improvement..

I used to try that, too, but since I have eaten rice since I was a kid, giving it up wasn't easy. Just after a week of not eating rice, my cravings for it just intensified - especially that I eat meals with my family. Seeing them eat rice felt I was isolated and left out.

One major factor why I don't jump into "special diets" is because of one question - "Are you willing to do this forever?" Instead of doing special diets, I just try to do a lifestyle change - cutting my food portions, so I can still eat what I want provided I don't go overboard. I can eat rice, but not more than 1 cup, I can eat beef and pork, but not more than 100grams. I am still starting anew, so I will just keep it at that, then will decrease the food intake in time.

I do Hip Hop Abs, too! It's such a fun workout to do. I am sorry about your knee, but I am thankful it is now healed. Congratulations on the weight loss.

same here!i THINK MY DIET IS too bad!I controlled  myself not to eat rice and other food because Im always conscious about the food but sometimes im really craving for sweets  and a liitle of junkfoods and meat especially when I cook  for my kids and for my husband...It s so hard!but I will pursue this  because I dont like to gain weight anymore, I want to feel good, and sexy even if I have 4 kids!

Hello All,

Try to eat carbo before 3PM then at 3pm onwards, Protein.veggies and fruits nalang..definitely it should be light dinner like veggies and milk or wheat bread and milk or veg salad sa 6pm..at no food intake from 6pm to morning..

Are you sure that you're going to give up rice for sure? Because when I tried that before , and start eating rice again, I gained all the weight back and double the weight gain! :P

So , better lessen your rice intake. It's a myth that rice makes us fat.

can you give me an idea on how to tone my arms?they are so big kasi eh and hard to find the clothes to cover up my big arms..

Hi, go to Youtube and you can see some demos there on how to get rid of flabby arms. Am trying some of the techniques there. No big results yet but at least I am doing something... You are right! I really get frustrated when I cannot buy clothes just because of these big arms!

my bestfriend actually did that same thing -- no rice and she's walking a lot.. and it did her great! she lose like 20 lbs for only 30 days. guess that's really effective. :)

Wow, good job!

Diet + exercise is definitely the way to go. However, depriving yourself of something will only make you want it more. Its human nature to want something you can't have. You can eat rice, but in very moderate amounts and at appropriate times of the day. Eat it during the morning for an energy boost and during lunch, but you can AVOID it for dinner.

Totally agree! And rice is actually healthier than bread in that it is not as processed. Even better if you can eat brown rice or red rice to get even more fiber.

I disagree with the idea of no rice in a diet. My Nutrionist still allow me to eat rice , though in 1/2 to 1cup only. Rice is an energy giving food. We need energy to move and exercise.

hi, nana! what a coincidence..nana is also one of my nicknames.  anyway, i used to eat a lot of rice.  if i didn't fill my stomach to the fullest i felt like i was going to faint of hunger before the next meal came..but now, since i've really really decided to lose all the extra fats, i also cut down on my rice.  now i just take two spoonsfull of rice during lunch and no more rice in the evenings but i feel extremely fine..for those who think they cannot do without rice..think again!!! it's all in the mind, believe me!!!  i eat more fruits now,too..vegies have always been my favorite so no problem there. in this last ten days or so i have lost four pounds..i was so ecstatic when i saw it registered in my weighing scale!  but i still have a long way to go. i weighed 200 lbs when i started and now i lost 4lbs so...i aim to go down to 125lbs..my height is 5'2" and at my age-57 yrs old...that should be ok.  would you have any idea how i can lose my belly fats?  mine is so big, i think about 50 lbs of my excess fats are all in that area.
