Hi euree! mahirap talaga may PCOS... cant lose weight that easily...

plus the irregular menses..hay!

@mikoy : hi! how's your struggle with PCOS?

Good luck!

Good health to us :)

hi megnut,

i am very sorry, a lot of things have happened during the past few months. i have only logged in just now since i last posted here.

anyways, my "battle" with PCOS is ongoing. i have been diagnosed with it since i was 14, so it's more than a decade na.

the most difficult part is, tama ka, losing weight.

at first, nakaka-depress (which is later i found out na, kasama din sa pagkakaron ng pcos), but i learned to embrace the fact that i'm stuck with it, and life goes on. nakakainis when people tease you and so on, nakaka-affect ng self-esteem, pero nasanay na lang siguro ako.

right now, i have lost 6 kgs, which gives me 10 more to lose. hehe.

for the first few years, i was just manifesting irregular menses, acne, weight gain (obvious packing of fats in the middle - stomach area), Hirsutism (excessive hair growth). then last year, meron na rin akong spots on both ovaries.

the only hope i'm aiming for is to reach my ideal weight of 50kg at least.

so far ganyan ang buhay pcos ko.

how about the others?

thanks for checking on my struggle, it means a lot.

God bless to all of us. kaya natin to.

I myself have polycystic ovaries. Or should I say ovary? My right ovary was removed a little over one year ago due to endometrial cysts. At that time, the left one was still healthy. I just found out 2 months ago that my remaining ovary is now polycystic.

The doctor told me that it's very important that I don't gain weight anymore. Gaining weight increases your insulin levels which in turn increases the level of androgen produced by your body. This is what causes more cysts to develop. And because PCOS can cause early onset diabetes, it's really important to maintain a healthy diet.

Good luck to us all! I'm sure we can conquer this condition! :o)

Yes victoria, its true very few women knows about PCOS, as a matter of fact i got to hear of this only last 3yrs ago, when i changed OB-GYN and i was diagnosed of the said health problem. I probably already have this several years ago.

For those who doesn't know yet...

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), also known as Polycystic Ovarian Disease, is often caused by a hormonal imbalance brought on by Insulin Resistance-related obesity. It's a disorder that affects an estimated 5 to 10 percent of all women, and is one of the leading causes of infertility. A root cause of PCOS is Insulin Resistance.

It is the most common female endocrine (hormonal) disorder and is characterized by multiple abnormal ovarian cysts. Most ovarian cysts are harmless, fluid-filled sacs containing immature eggs that attach to the ovaries. But multiple cysts, with a typical appearance of "a string of pearls" or "pearl necklace", are a hallmark of PCOS

Women with PCOS have one or more of these conditions:

  1. Infertility
  2. Weight gain
  3. Hormone Imbalance
  4. Excess faial or body hair
  5. fatigue
  6. sleep apnea
  7. Skin problem

to learn more about this you can check out this site www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com

Have a nice day everyone!

Good luck. To tell the truth, I've only heard about PCOS for the first time from our Belles here who have been diagnosed with it. Let's all help each other out.
