Emotional Eating

posted by varlams1979 on 26-05-2011 à 11:15

I am 32 years old, married and have a 2-year old girl.  My family is recently living with my husbands parents as we don't have our own house yet.  I consider myself as an emotional eater because everytime I'm bugged with certain issues I tend to overeat.  I  am constantly disturbed by my mother in law's meddling issues and this has triggered my eating habits a lot to the point that I lost control.  What should I do?

I, too, am an emotional eater for some years now.No prodding, no insult, no kind advice can make me move (so far). I acknowledge that I need professional help but  need support of those close to me (and divine intervention).

Emotional eating, stress eating, impulsive eating habits... and all other reasons to use food as an outlet of all those emotions are not healthy at all. It will leave you discouraged, ashamed, and  broke.

Self-control plays a huge part in dieting. If you cannot enforce your power over these emotions, there is no way you can manage it. What you can do is to reroute these emotions to other things aside from food.

Here aresome tips:

1. Talk to a friend about while walking.

2. Drink a cup of tea with mint to help you relax.

3. Listen to feel good music.

4. Blog about your feelings.

5. Talk to us here in Belletoday for professional advices.

Hi dear, as an emotional eater, i would suggest that you consult with a Counseling Psychologist. It seems that saying no to food is not just the problem. Like you said, there are certain triggers that are causing you to act this way. In as much as people may give you advice to tie your fridge down under ball and chain, if the problem is impulse, then its best to address this with a Psychologist. :)
